I’m Mary Hancock

Integrative Health Practitioner, educator, and fitness enthusiast who believes that health is what you do daily to nourish your body from the inside out. Always stoked about good food, gut health, the Maine coastline, hiking, biking, and lifting. Life is good when my girls are happy and healthy.

Conventional Medicine saved one of my daughter’s lives and almost killed another. It’s cured cancer in my family and also left my father a paraplegic. I’ve witnessed life dwindle from those I love from Parkinsons, Alzheimer’s, and ALS. Though Western Medicine kept them comfortable, pain-free, and extended their years, the life in their years was restrictive and confined. Western Medicine is amazing for what it is: emergencies, surgeries, and pharmaceuticals, however I’ve become immensely discouraged by the lack of education around daily health. I began to delve into what it takes to truly provide your body with the raw materials it needs to thrive and live longer, stronger.

I grew up in Massachusetts in a family of sport fanatics and coaches. I was a three-sport athlete and played at the collegiate level. Education is in my blood and I’ve been an elementary special education teacher for 14 years and a fitness instructor for 6. I still live in Massachusetts with my husband and three daughters. We are grateful for our village of family and friends who make the hectic more manageable and enjoyable.

In college I noticed my energy levels were inconsistent. I felt fatigued in the afternoon, delt with anxiety, and a strong Type A personality. I easily gained and lost weight and had zero clue how to fuel my body appropriately. I reached out to a friend and functional practitioner who helped my body gain homeostasis and encouraged me to keep learning.

IHP certifications received through Board Certified Doctor of Naturopathy, Stephen Cabral of Boston, MA. Imperfectly Well is for health education purposes and I do not treat, cure, or diagnosis disease.
